Do you want to discover what it's like to travel by van?

This week we start a new section in the blog, and we love to announce that comes from the hand of @Pinepins, adventurers who travel in a caravan around the world. They tell us their adventures on their Instagram, so after reading this fantastic interview I hope you take a look at their photos and videos.

1- Hi! First of all, who are you? What moves you? Tell us a little bit about yourself. Define yourself in a tweet

We are Selli and Frank from Germany and we try to be on the road as much as we can. Most of the time we travel in our VW van called Rudi. As we started travelling with a home on four wheels a few years ago we didn’t really know what to expect but we knew that it will be a great journey. The best thing for us is the connection to our surrounding and to nature. And hey, what could be better than travelling without any big plan?

2- What do you like most about traveling?

Well the main thing about travelling in a van is that you never know where you will end up the next night and the next days. That’s definitely the thing we like the most because it means pure freedom to us.

3- What was the craziest adventure you had experienced on a trip?

Oh, there is something that comes pretty straight to our minds… when we have been travelling through Australia with a 4wd Jeep we had a pretty sketchy issue. When we took that car to the beach for the very first time, we didn’t know that the 4wd was actually not working. A few minutes later we found ourselves stuck in the middle of no-man’s-land about two meters away from the shore with a upcoming flood. When the fist wave hit the car we thought that we will never get it back out again… luckily someone appeared out of nowhere and towed us out of this scary situation in the very last moment.

4- We know that traveling makes you grow as a person, what has it taught you?

Take it slow! Now travelling with a kind of slow vehicle we have no other option anyways. We really slowed down the past months and we just enjoy the places and areas so much more than we sometimes did before.

5- Time for letting the cat out of the bag! Have you ever fell in love while traveling? You know, the kind of affair that only last your stay.

Mhhh… there was nothing to serious… we all know these little teenage love affairs but that’s about it ;).

6- What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten and where was it? How did you feel?

Looks like we are kind of boring when it comes to food… we don’t have a specific idea of anything real wired. We always try to stick to the local kitchen wherever we are and see what it will bring… and most of the time it brought real delicious food to us.

7- Talking about strange things ... What is the weirdest thing you have ever experienced or seen while traveling?

We have been a few days on Fraser Island in Australia. This place definitely felt kind of strange because the whole Island is consists of sand. Even in the forests, the whole ground felt like walking on a beach. This felt like a wired sand dream… but we totally enjoyed the place.

8- Let's switch to other topics, whom would you like to have dinner with? (Person alive, dead or fictitious). Why?

Oh, that’s a great question and it would be even nicer if this could come true… a dinner with David Bowie and Freddie Mercury would then be our choice. They might have some great story’s [sic] to tell and we are sure they are just as great as their music.

9- If you had a superpower, what would it be? Why?

Travelling through the time! What could be cooler than going back in time to see and feel what once have been and on the other hand to explore what the future will bring.

10- Thank you very much! Last but not least, what do you think the world needs to know about you?

If you ever spot us on the road don’t hesitate to say hello. If you want to see more from us, have a look at our Instagram @PINEPINS, this is where we are sharing our adventures, experiences and inspirations.
