🤔 BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO LANZAROTE

APRIL: The spring months are the best time to travel to Lanzarote and the Canary Islands, although the temperature is pleasant year-round.

WHAT TO DO IN LANZAROTE

Turquoise waters and golden sand beaches, art and nature blending in harmony, a warm and temperate climate year-round, and the friendliness of the locals are reason enough to visit this beautiful island. Don't miss Timanfaya National Park or Famara Beach, discover the vineyards of La Geria, take a peek at La Graciosa (the eighth island), admire the Lagoon of the Cycles, and enjoy a sunset at Papagayo Beach.

🌮 YOU CAN'T LEAVE LANZAROTE WITHOUT TRYING IT

In any restaurant or bar, the portions are usually very generous and the prices quite reasonable. Papas arrugás con mojo picón (wrinkled potatoes with spicy mojo sauce) is undoubtedly one of the most famous culinary specialties in the entire archipelago. The foundation of Lanzarote's cuisine is, naturally, fish. One of the most important and traditional dishes on the island is sancocho, a delicious stew. If you'd like to try one of the best sancochos on the island, made with top-quality fresh fish, you can visit the less crowded fishing villages, away from the busy tourist areas.

👁🗨 CURIOSITIES OF LANZAROTE

42% of Lanzarote's surface area is protected territory. This includes Timanfaya National Park, established in 1974; two Natural Parks: Los Volcanes and the Chinijo Archipelago (comprising La Graciosa, Montaña Clara, Alegranza, Roque del Este, and Roque del Oeste); the Islotes Integral Nature Reserve; natural monuments; and landscapes protected for their geological or ethnographic value. Legislation protects these areas from development and certain uses.

😎 MISS WOOD'S TIP

The cathedral is one of the city's main tourist attractions. Its unique feature is that it consists of two parts: the old cathedral, dating back to the 12th century, and the new cathedral, from the 16th century. In 1992, during the building's restoration, a sculpture of an astronaut was discovered on one of its doors. Play a game and find it! If that's too easy, try finding a lynx, a bull, a smiling dragon with a three-scoop ice cream cone, a crayfish, a stork, and a hare on the north door.
