Tips for proper use of cleaning products
To reduce the use of hazardous products in household cleaning we can:
- Always use the minimum amount of product. Controlling the quantities of all products used reduces their use by between 10% and 20%.
- We should never mix products (bleach and ammonia, bleach and toilet disinfectant, etc.), as we may run the risk of poisoning.
It's not the one who cleans the most who is the cleanest, but the one who makes the least mess. It's more environmentally friendly to clean the house regularly than to use all these harsh products that affect our health and pollute the environment.
Use less harsh and toxic natural cleaning solutions. Water, vinegar, and mild soap are perfect for cleaning the whole house. Esparto grass still makes a good scouring pad. If the dirt is ingrained or we need to scrub, we can use lemon juice, baking soda, or borax.
Remember that you can find recyclable cleaning cloths, detergents, and trash bags (for example) on the market, and their manufacturing processes don't harm the environment. By doing so, you'll reduce the demand for harsh products and increase the demand for eco-friendly ones, thus encouraging companies to pay more attention to the environmental impact of their products.
- Use recycled plastic garbage bags or compostable bags made from cornstarch instead of plastic.
- Use eco-friendly cleaning products.
